Mauricio Pochettino is considering a bold move as he targets Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta for a role in his Tottenham Hotspur backroom staff.
The 34-year-old midfielder will likely hang up his boots at the end of the season and is keen to move into coaching.
The Spaniard has taken his coaches badges and has been working at the Gunners’ academy as a coach.
It has been reported by the Mirror that friend and former Barcelona man, Pep Guardiola was set to offer the Arsenal ace a position at Manchester City as a coach but things could still take a dramatic turn as Arsenal’s rivals monitor the situation.
Arteta could well have the option of the move across north London to reunite with Pochettino, who he grew close to whilst he was on loan at Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona.
It is, however, unlikely that Arsenal’s captain will be staying at Arsenal, despite boss Arsene Wenger tipping him for a big future in Management.
The Gunners are looking to make big changes behind the scenes, which could see academy director Andries Jonker leave the club as part of an overhaul on the club’s youth setup.
